For their outstanding commitment to a better work-life balance, the family office has now awarded three Charité projects with the Family Award 2020. The prizes in the category “Best family-friendly example” go to the working group (AG) Dermatological Allergology of the CC12 for the project “We focus on the staff” and to the central care center in the care directorate for the project “Family-friendly pool”. In the “Innovative, family-friendly idea” category, the Family Award 2020 honors the Radiology Clinic in CC06 for its idea of “Flexible, family-friendly, networked - teleworking for radiology”.
Carla Eysel, Head of Human Resources and Care, and Sabine Barleben, Head of the Family Office, have now handed over the Family Award trophies to those responsible for the project on behalf of their departments. Carla Eysel emphasizes: “I am very happy to see the commitment and great sense of responsibility with which the Charité employees work to further improve the compatibility of work and family in their areas - across all professional groups and hierarchical levels. She adds: "The Family Award recognizes this individual commitment. All of the award-winning projects convinced the jury that they are particularly suitable for transferring to other areas of the Charité and therefore make a company-wide contribution to even more family friendliness and a lived cultural change."
Sabine Barleben, head of the family office, emphasizes: “For almost a year now we have been shown the challenges employees face in order to be able to cope with family care duties and professional responsibility on a daily basis. The lively participation makes us all the more positive, as it shows how important the issue of compatibility is. With the Family Award, we have created an opportunity to make good examples and innovative ideas of employees visible so that family-friendliness at the Charité can be further promoted through learning, imitating and adopting. "

Category: "Best family-friendly example"
Wenke Neumann, research assistant at the Clinic for Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology, accepted the Family Award on behalf of the Dermatological Allergology Group. The project “We focus on the staff” relies on the greatest possible flexibility in work organization. In order to attract and retain very well qualified specialists, the work organization is adapted to the respective needs of the employees. Especially during family breaks, contact is maintained with employees, career progression is kept in mind and re-entry is planned individually. The variety of measures requires a high level of organizational and coordination effort, but leads to great satisfaction among employees. The prize money is intended to stimulate improvements in occupational medicine and organize a team event to discuss other family-friendly ideas.
Janine Tiegel-Lindenkron, Head of the Central Care Center, received the Family Award on behalf of her team. The award-winning “Family-friendly Pool” project enables care workers, especially single parents, carers for relatives, students, as well as mothers and fathers, to organize their work in a phase of life through the pool. Individual and highly flexible time and place of work organization, extensive opportunities for further education and training ensure family and leisure planning while at the same time promoting professional careers. With the prize money, the employees of the Central Care Center will introduce a "Family Pool Day" and increase the visibility of the family-friendly pool through publicity measures.
"Innovative family-friendly idea" category
Dr. Thula Walter-Rittel, specialist at the Clinic for Radiology at the CVK, was presented with the trophy on behalf of the team involved in the project “Flexible, family-friendly, networked - teleworking for radiology”. For monitor-related activities in radiology, working away from the clinic in the form of telemedicine or home office is ideal. Following the approval of the IT panel, six workstations were set up as part of a pilot project. Employees with family responsibilities can work more flexibly and better balance work and family. The prize money will be used to advance the project and to support it in other areas.
